Day 260 – 4 days to go….

Well, here we are again and the writing will be minimal tonight as the photo’s will speak for themselves (Plus i am knackered as we spent the whole Easter Weekend cleaning & painting in preperation for Friday)

So here is the house pretty much finished (Minus carpets that are being fitted tomorrow!!)

Day 253 – 11 days till The move…….

Well, we are nearing our journeys end and I am not sure what I will do when the house is completely finished – Start a new blog possibly!!!

So where are we up too????

The garden is finished and looks amazing, hopefully in about 6weeks we will be able to cut the grass, however you will need to use your imagination to envisage this.. The pile of left over topsoil has been used behind the wall so I have more space to plant things.. Yipee for me.. 😉

The garage has been finally rendered but I am waiting on our final draw down  from the bank before the door and down pipes can be completed.. Next week is looking likely..

The carpets are being fitted next Tuesday and the sunroom floor will be fitted on Wednesday..

Sooooo the plan for this easter weekend will be cleaning, painting, cleaning, painting and a bit more of the above..

Day 240 – The Kitchen!

Hello again,

We have reached another milestone, the kitchen has been fitted. It’s not completley finished but it’s close, just needs to be plumbed in and electrics to be done….

It looks better than i ever could have imagined.. I can’t wait to get in and start cooking and the best thing is the room still looks huge, it blends in perfectly… It will be great for living and party’s etc…

Day 233 – The garden is finally levelled..

Well another milestone has been reached – The garden has been levelled, all the piles of earth have been removed (Well all but one but it’s only a little one!) Additionally the drive has also been finished, so you can now drive up the drive quiet easily without stalling… 1st gear is always best though…..

We are now not far off, Murphy’s just need to concrete the paths round the house and that will be the outside all finished…

 

 

 

We had a weekend of painting up at the house, trying to get the kitchen ready for the units to be fitted… Well I was tea’s maid and babysitter whilst Mo & Dunc’s painted.. Kids had a ball playing on the digger and using the buckets as dens (As you can imagine the day finished with 2 very dirty but very happy children – Millie actually cried when the digger left yesterday morning!!!)

 

Jo arrived yesterday morning ready to start on the kitchen whilst Dunc’s finished sealing the utility with paint.. The extractor fan is up and looks fab but it needs a slight adjustment as it’s too low at the moment.. Another job for Dunc’s when he next home.. The list is growing!!!!

 

So things are coming together at an alarming rate and we are nearly in April which means it will only be 4 weeks before we move in!!!

Day 228 – The kitchen has arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good afternoon out there..

I am bursting with excited today as I have just taken delivery of 1 kitchen (Well only the cupboards as van not big enough for all the equipment)…

They look fantastic, even when piled at the bottom of the room, As the van arrived I was thinking it looked a tad small for all the units but the guys are masters at packing a van cause all the units arrived and when looking at them stacked in the corner I am now thinking that I am not going to have enough pots and pans to fill them!!!

God, it’s actually happening, The lads are busy levelling the rest of the site and bless the digger driver he has cleared the area for my greenhouse with enough space for a path round the sides and he will cover with top soil so I should have great soil for planting!!!!

Day 227.. Spring is here!!!!!!!!

Hello out there,

I am writing this looking out my sunroom window at the clear blue sky thinking I love spring!!!

But also thinking I will miss the view, the house & our very lovely neighbours very much when we move as we are getting to that point in time….

Boxes are being packed slowly but surely, weeding out stuff that will not be needed in the new house.. (How can a family of 4 accumulate so much C**P in 18months)  😉

Anyway back to the house.. Electric is on, heating should have gone on last night and the garden and drive is being sorted..

Bathrooms are due to go in this week.. They say they will be finished by friday so that should leave space for the kitchen which is being delivered on friday in readiness for monday….

So the family bathroom is tiled and the 2nd bath is in place with the taps in the right place…. Should be finished within the next couple of days..

Now to the stove…. It’s there, the slate has been cemented in place and they are drilling holes all over to connect up to the heating & water system..

Day 212

Well, here we are again, We are now nearer to the end than the beginning… Things are progressing at an alarming rate and we heard today that the electric will be turned on Monday!!!

Murphy’s say the house will be completed in about 3 weeks – That’s totally and utterly finished 😉

Well, they will have done there bit, it will be another couple of weeks for us to do our bit but we will definitely be in by the end of April, hopefully a little earlier!!

So back to the last week, the garage is nearly finished, just needs to be rendered and the electric roller door to be fitted…

And our hall has been completely tiled, it looks fantastic and i am really pleased with the tiles and the job our tiler has done.. (Not so impressed with him also persuading Dunc’s to buy a dirt bike and also wanting him t ride out with him and his lads every sunday!!!) Something tells me Rod is going to be around our life for a long time to come….

The bathrooms are the next thing to be done, and as soon as the electric is on, the heating will go on and the stove will be fitted..

It will then move on to the garden… I will take some photo’s to show you how it is now and how it will be once landscaped..

Day 206…

Hello again from a very Spring like Ireland..

The weather is definitely improving!! And so is the house, Its looking fab inside, all the woodwork is now finished and we have started to seal the plaster (God I hate painting!!!!!!)

Myself & Dunc’s spent most of the weekend at the house painting and cleaning tiles… As you can imagine I moaned like hell the whole time – Attention span of a gnat, that’s me!! Dunc’s was thrilled by it all, I can tell you 😉

Anyway here’s some photo’s to give you an idea…

As you can see, we have doors and even lights so all the electrics are finished too!!!

The Tiler has also been very busy at work and we now have an en-suit completely tiled & cleaned by my fair hands…. What back-breaking work, but it was worth it

So it moves on, I will tell you a little story about why the Tiler can not move onto the main bathroom yet, even though we have a bath already fitted, that finally arrived from B&Q a week late (But it did come from England and was lost on route but was found again!!!) So picture the scene:

You are a qualified plumber (Obviously good as Murphy’s would not use you)

You have this bath to fit and can not get hold of the owner of the house (The one time the owner leave’s phone at home to do school run) Do you

A  Fit the bath with the Taps above the Plug and Overflow hole?

B – Fit the bath with the Taps at the end of the bath cause that’s where they usually go? OR

C – Do you do the most sensible thing and wait to speak to owner before touching the bloody bath that has to come all the way from bloody england and will hold up the Tiler and the fitting of the bathroom?????

Before I give you answer to the million dollar question, Where would you fit the taps on the above mentioned bath that has to come all the way from england!!!!

Well my little rant now over I feel able to continue…

The weekend was spent painting and sealing the walls and ceilings.. We spent all day saturday at the house (Well I left at 4.30 cause I was cold ;-(       ….) and Dunc’s left at 6.30pm so you would be expecting a lot of paint on the walls and ceilings…. Oh how we underestimated the size of the area that needs sealing!!

So to cap it off…. Connor, Millie & Our bedroom ceiling has been sealed..

The hall way has been completely sealed all over (That is a very large area)

And the Kitchen/lounge area ceiling has been done with half the wall space sealed.. There is a huge amount to do now!!

So that is about it for the house until next time but we have the garage to catch up on…

Day 193

Hello Again from dreary Ireland…

There is a mixture of updates today, The house (of course!!!!) & the Garage…

The garage is almost done, and the 260ft Wall is finished and looking great, How can one get excited about a bloody wall, i hear you say but it just finishes the back of the house of beautifully!!!!

Day 176: The plastering is Finished!

Well, Here we are at a monumental milestone, The plastering is finished inside & Out…

It looks fanstatic and things really being to hot up from here on in, this is where we start to really get involved to get things ready for our (Fingers crossed move in date) of Easter!!!

But back to the here & now…

Its looking pretty amazing now, the Plasterers have done a fanastic job but the best room in the house by far is the kitchen/sunroom…

As you can see the area is going to be very light & airy… its beautiful, we are getting very excited about things coming together, the flooring, kitchen etc…. We are in February in 2 days time so its only going to be another couple of months and we could be moving in!!!!
